Adult Abound Retreats

A Place Apart

A place apart…. Cathedral Ridge Camp and Retreat center offers you a respite, a calm, a place apart for you to get to know God’s still small voice.

God’s voice in the wind at the ridge. God’s voice through the trees. God’s voice at the edge of the Beaver pond in the trickling water. God’s voice in the crunch of boots along the labyrinth.

God’s peace which passes all understanding keeping your heart and mind in the knowledge and love of God, and of God’s son, Jesus Christ.

Come to a place apart from life’s busy-ness. Come and hear God’s voice.

Abound Retreats for Episcopal Church Leaders

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit – Romans 15:13.

Join with others who share your call. Come for a time of regathering, reconnecting, and reflecting on how ministries are changing and leaders are adapting. These 3-day, 2-night retreats are made possible by regional grants. Your time away begins mid-afternoon on the first day and concludes with lunch on the third day.

Children and Youth Leaders Retreat

August 16 to 18, 2024

Come spend time in the beauty of Cathedral Ridge with your fellow children and youth leaders before the start of the busy formation school year. Gather for formation and fellowship around the camp fire, relax and take in the crisp mountain air, and swap curriculum ideas, tips, and brainstorm with people who understand your ministry best! Volunteer or paid staff, this retreat is open to all who work with children and youth as a chance to help each other navigate the ever-changing ministry landscape.

Clergy & Lay Pastoral Leaders of Small Congregations Retreat

October 7-9, 2024

We will explore various ways to strengthen and sustain our congregations and leaders within our individual parishes. We will explore our unique strengths, what has and hasn't worked, the lingering effects of the pandemic, understand what the diocese has to offer, and indulge in other collaborative conversations related to ministry and beyond.

Seeing God’s Creation Anew: Thinking Big and Small

TBD 2024

Join us as we explore new ways of living in relationship with God’s creation, as individuals and as congregations. Our goal is for retreat participants to come away empowered, encouraged, inspired, and connected—prepared to see through a new lens and engage in new ways of being that are grounded in our Christian theology. Through worship and prayer, presentations and reflection, and building a strong community of creation care advocates, we will come to understand what creation care means in each of our unique contexts: small church, big church; rural or urban; Western Slope, Rocky Mountains, or Eastern Plains. We will embrace the paradox of living as a people of hope while facing the immense challenges of our planetary home. As part of the Abound series of retreats, the cost to participants is just $50/per person. For questions, please contact Missioner Tracy Methe or any member of the Creation Care Team.

Clergy & Lay Pastoral Leaders of Medium & Large Congregations Retreat

October 21-23, 2024

The theme of this retreat is "Breathe". This retreat is an opportunity for leaders of these congregations to rest in the beautiful campus of Cathedral Ridge near Woodland Park, breathe deeply in the midst of God's creation, connect with one another, pray for one another, and wrestle with current adaptive challenges. The Rev. Lou Blanchard and Dr. Ross Fraser look forward to facilitating conversation, building relationships, and listening in prayer with congregational leaders as together we discover where the Holy Spirit might be leading us in our next faithful step of being the Church in this ever-changing world.

Deacons & Diaconal Postulants Retreat

September 20-22, 2024

Identity & Authenticity Abound Retreat for LGBTQIA+ Clergy

August 27-29, 2024

Join your siblings in Christ as we explore the particular gifts and challenges of serving as queer clergy in The Episcopal Church. Together, we will explore the themes of queer performative behavior, identity, and the contributions of queerness to the Church, as we learn how to celebrate our authentic selves and reclaim the fullness of who God created us to be. The retreat will include large group and individual retreat time. Thanks to the generosity of the Oakes Home Trust, the cost of the retreat is $75. Priority will be given to clergy in Colorado, then open to clergy outside the diocese after March 15th.

The retreat will be led by the Rev. Phillip Bass, who serves as the Associate Rector of The Church of the Nativity in Raleigh, NC. Recently, he launched The Beloved Community at the Trees, a new Episcopal faith community dedicated to healing for those who have experienced religious trauma. Phillip is also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Qualified Supervisor. He owns a group practice in Chapel Hill, NC, where he specializes in trauma recovery, relational therapy, and LGBTQIA+ issues. He received a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, M. Div. from Duke Divinity School, ThM from Duke Divinity School, and a Masters in Counseling from North Carolina Central University. When he’s not working, Phillip enjoys camping, theater, and spending time with his husband, J, and his eleven-year-old son, Brock.

Priority will be given to clergy in Colorado, then open to clergy outside the diocese after March 15th.
